The WIMA Philosophy
Overall goal of WIMA is highest quality and total customer satisfaction. It is reached by our own performance covering quality, innovation, delivery reliability and cost effectiveness. The outstanding reputation WIMA enjoys already for a long time in the electronics market is result of a consequent and permanent process of improvement.
As a capacitor specialist with headquarter and production in Germany the competitiveness against multinational conglomerates can only be sustained if the advantage of a lean and flexible organisation is combined with excellence in technical innovation, productivity and customer orientation.
WIMA is an example of such a combination offering more than 10.000 products for all customer needs with regard to film capacitors.
The increasing tendency away from the pure “low-price-philosophy” is primarily due to the customer’s desire for further improvement of his own product quality. Another aspect is the necessity to achieve a synergetic reduction in “grey costs” caused by repairs and line stoppages.
“The quality of a product has to be inherent in the production process and cannot simply be the result of testing.”
Wilhelm Westermann, Founder of WIMA
Sustainability
As a medium-sized employer in the technical field, WIMA is aware of its social and ethical responsibility.
The WIMA Group is concerned about environmental protection, which is why we attach great importance to minimising environmental risks and negative effects on the environment by taking precautionary measures. These include in particular:
- Reduction of energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions,
- Maintenance of clean air and increase of air quality,
- Management of natural resources,
- Avoidance of waste,
- Preservation of water quality and economical use of water,
- A responsible chemical management.
WIMA capacitors are manufactured on state-of-the-art production lines that meet the high standards of today’s environmental requirements, including energy and raw material consumption.
Based on the state-of-the-art analytical technology and the information provided by our suppliers, we can confirm that WIMA products and production processes are free of environmentally harmful substances or that their low concentration does not require verification and is therefore not subject to the lists of banned or phased out substances.
This refers to the entire WIMA product range, i. e.
- Film capacitors for SMT and THT,
- Plastic Film Snubber and GTO Capacitors,
- DC-Link Capacitors for High Power Converter Technology,
- Double-Layer Capacitor Modules (WIMA PowerBlock).
All WIMA capacitors are made of environmentally friendly materials. Neither during manufacture nor in the product itself any toxic substances are used, e.g.
- Lead (Pb),
- PBB / PBDE,
- PCB,
- Arsenic (As),
- CFC,
- Cadmium (Cd),
- Hydrocarbon chlorid
- Mercury (Hg),
- Chromium (Cr6+),
- Asbestos,
- etc.
We merely use pure, recyclable materials for packing our components, such as:
- carton
- cardboard
- adhesive tape made of paper
- polystyrene
We almost completely refrain from using packing materials such as:
- foamed polystyrene (Styropor®)
- adhesive tapes made of plastic
- metal clips
All capacitor series of the WIMA product range are fully RoHS compliant according to the latest version of the EU RoHS Directive 2015/863/EU (RoHS 2, including the amendment according to Annex II of 31 March 2015).
The REACH Declaration of Conformity is based on the latest information from our semi-finished product suppliers and takes into account the latest updated SVHC candidate list.
This D of C refers to capacitors of the entire WIMA product range.
We ensure compliance with applicable national environmental laws, regulations and standards in all associated companies.
The Code of Conduct of the WIMA Group is based on the following generally accepted guidelines:
